History

The Quayle Estate is a grand three-bedroom family home.

Charles & Coral Quayle built the home in 1920. Mr. Quayle was a prominent young attorney, and Mrs. Quayle pursued philanthropic activities. She was instrumental in building the main library in downtown Oakland. The house that they built for themselves and their only child was in, at that time, a new development near the Historic Mills College.

It was one of the first homes built here and possibly the most grand in an area where smaller homes were later built as the great depression loomed.

Mrs. Quayle lived in the house for 50 years. The home was the scene of many memorable gatherings and parties.

The current owner, Mr. Vincenzo J. Signoretti, is the third owner since the property was constructed. Mr. Signoretti, a building developer and contractor, has completely restored the property and gardens to its 1920 appearance, with the addition of 21st century technology. Some of these amenities include insulated windows, sound proofing, bathrooms in each bedroom, Wi-Fi, and multi-line phone systems.
